EmpowerLocal WordPress Plugin Update Guide

Follow these steps to update the EmpowerLocal WordPress plugin through the EmpowerLocal Dashboard and WordPress. PLEASE NOTE: these steps should be followed exactly as they are outlined below. Attempting to update the plugin using the integrated "replace" feature in WordPress will cause the plugin to not update in full. 

Step 1: Log In to the EmpowerLocal Dashboard

• Login to the EmpowerLocal Dashboard here. 

Step 2: Access the Ad Configuration Section

1. In the EmpowerLocal Dashboard, go to the Ad Configuration section on the left navigation bar.
2. Select the WordPress tab at the top of the screen.

Step 3: Download the Latest Plugin Version

• Click the Download Now button to download the latest version of the EmpowerLocal plugin to your computer.

Step 4: Update the Plugin in WordPress

1. In your WordPress admin dashboard, navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
2. Locate the existing EmpowerLocal plugin.
3. Deactivate the current version, then Delete it.

   ⚠️ Important: Do not try to replace the existing version using WordPress’s “replace” feature. It is essential to completely delete the old version first.

Step 5: Upload and Activate the New Plugin Version

1. Return to Plugins in WordPress and click Add New.
2. Select Upload Plugin, then choose the new plugin file you downloaded from the EmpowerLocal Dashboard.
3. Click Install Now and Activate the plugin.

Your EmpowerLocal plugin is now updated to the latest version!
