Implementing the Adhesive Smart Ad

Step 1: Login to EmpowerLocal Dashboard

Step 2: Select Publication

  • Once logged in, toggle to the appropriate publication in the top left corner to choose the publication you'd like to set up.

Step 3: Navigate to Ad Configuration

  • Navigate to the Ad Configuration tab.

Step 4: Choose Your Platform

  • Choose the Javascript tab at the top.

Step 5: Confirm Your Ads.txt is Updated

  • If you are implementing the Adhesive Smart Ad alongside other EmpowerLocal ad units, you can update your ads.txt with the instructions provided in those help documents. 
  • If you are only implementing the Adhesvie Smart Ad (no other EmpowerLocal ad units), please follow these additional steps to update your ads.txt: 
    • Scroll to Step 3 in the Javascript tab under Ad Configuration in the EmpowerLocal Dashboard. 
    • Copy the lines and add them to your existing ads.txt file. 
    • If you do not have an ads.txt file, click the download button, and use this file to create a new one. If you need guidance on how to create an ads.txt file from scratch, contact us at help@empowerlocal.com and we'll be happy to help. 

Step 6: Copy Your Ad Code

  • Scroll to Step 3 and click the dropdown menu. 
  • Select the Adhesive Smart Ad.
  • If you manage your website's header file, skip to Step 6 below. 
  • If you do not manage your website's header file, you'll need to copy this code and send it to your web dev, or CMS provider to implement for you. You can let them know that we'll need it pasted into your header file just before the closing </body> tag. Once you've gotten confirmation that this has been done, skip to Step 8 below, and notify us that it's complete. 

Step 7: Insert the Adhesive Smart Ad Code into Your Website

  • Open Your Website's Header File:
    • Use your preferred HTML editor or access your website's backend where you can edit HTML files.
  • Paste the Code:
    • Locate the <body> tag in your header file.
    • Paste the Adhesive Smart Ad JavaScript code right before the closing </body> tag.

Step 8: Save and Publish Changes

  • Save Your Header File:
    • Ensure that all changes are saved in your HTML editor.
  • Publish Your Website:
    • If you are using a content management system (CMS) like WordPress, make sure to update or publish your changes.

Step 9: Notify Us that the Steps are Complete

  • Confirmation:
    • Once you have completed the above steps, please notify us.
    • We will then verify the implementation from our side to ensure everything is working as expected.
